For many years my family would make the drive up Hwy 39 from Azusa, California to Falling Springs, home of Diamond Jan's Cafe. We even lived up there for a few months until the snow came! The school bus would come down every morning from the ranger station at Crystal Lake to pick up the few children whose parents decided to live in the mountains. I remember it taking at least an hour for the school bus to get from "the bottom of the hill", as we called it, up to our cabin house.
