About the Design

Slate background has square shapes filled with paintings of tulips, butterflies, wild roses, and

rabbits © Nancy Lee Moran.

Fabric has an 12 x 12 inch "Basic" repeat. The bunnies are about 2.5 inches tall. The wallpaper has a 12 x 12 inch "Basic" repeat. The rabbits are Holland Lops and Dutch rabbits. Wee fluff balls with big feet, the babies are sleepy and still - until suddenly dashing to and fro. I find the baby ears to be endearing and funny. Some ears aren't yet fully down (lops) or up (Dutch). Some ears are called "airplane ears" or "helicopter ears" at this stage. I used my own photos of rabbits and flowers as references for the paintings. In April 2014, Samantha Chadwick let me take photos of the adorable bunnies that she raises, then only three weeks old, of Holland Lop and Dutch varieties. Names for the medium-value background color are slate, pewter, smoke blue, silvery gray, faded jeans, chambray, and gravel. Names of the stripe color are raspberry red, ruby, magenta, cranberry, crimson, and watermelon. See Collection number 661013 for matching fabrics. "Bunny Rabbits by Nancy Lee Moran" Find the collection by entering its ID number 661013 in the Spoonflower search bar. In the drop-down menu, select "in Collections." Mourning-cloak butterflies are hardy, hibernating as adults, remaining all winter under the loose bark of trees and in hollow logs. When daffodils bloom, they use their dark wings as solar collectors to raise their body temperatures, which allows them to fly on chilly spring days. For food, they rely on spring flowers, like dandelions and maple sap. I hope you will show me the projects you create with my fabrics. It would be joy to see them.
