It is a delicate intertwining vine called the Australian blue bell. They are simple flowers which are small and dainty with dark green foliage. I first saw them when visiting a dear friend who has a huge variety of plants, trees and flowers in her garden. I sketched the pretty flowers and then created the repeat pattern in illustrator. The idea for the swirly, scroll came from Arabesque designs which are were adopted by the Arts and Crafts movement and used in their intricate and beautiful artworks. I love this romantic and bohemian design on bedding, curtains and wallpaper in the extra large, for upholstery in the medium size, and perfect as a blender and apparel in the small scale size.
