INSTRUCTIONS: Nativity Cut and Sew Holiday Gift Bag with optional Drawstring Simple to make! Cut out both pieces: 27” x 3” drawstring, and 24” x 15” rectangular bag piece. Bag: 1. Press and sew a 1/4” hem on both short sides of bag piece. 2. For the casing, along the top, press down 1/4” and then fold over another 1 1/4” and press, then stitch. 3. Fold bag piece in half, right sides together, so that the short sides meet. Stitch along bottom of bag and up the side, stopping short of the openings for the casing. 4. Trim seam allowances, and press open. 5. Optional – To make a flat bottom, pinch the bottom corners so that the side and bottom seams are together. Pin and stitch making a triangle of the outer corners, making sure both sides are the same size – about 1”. Trim off triangle. 6. Turn bag right side out. Optional Drawstring: 1. Press in and stitch 1/4” on each short end of the drawstring. 2. Fold in half lengthwise, right sides together, and stitch, leaving both ends open. 3. Turn right side out, press flat, 4. Using a safety pin, feed drawstring through casing, knotting ends, if desired. If you prefer, you could use a pretty ribbon as a drawstring instead.
