on one of South Carolina’s lovely barrier islands.
Camping on Edisto Beach back in the sixties was such a rich experience. Giant sea turtles laying eggs, and so many sea shells, you could hear them jingle as the surf receded. Then there were the fossilized sharks teeth and bones. It was a thrill to find them, and one of my most cherished memories of childhood. This design is inspired by the simplicity of Scandinavian style. The retro color palette is inspired by a tea towel I found in a thrift shop which is probably circa 1950s or early 1960s. It features a barnyard of delightful animals, in a simple block-print style with only five colors: yellow, brown, cotton candy pink, olive green and turquoise on a white background. I tried to capture the delightfully cheerful vintage style of my two design inspirations for this folksy tea towel. It would be a charming -- and useful -- holiday gift, as well as a fun and easy sewing project! It matches the color palettes of some of my other tea towels, making a perfect set. Enjoy, and I hope you get to visit this special beach some day!
